Soulja Boy’s disrespectful comments in his latest music video may very well earn him a permanent ban from U.S. military bases.
For a name like ‘Soulja Boy‘, one would think that he would have a bit more respect for the U.S. armed forces. The young rapper’s recent song that was a blatant disrespect towards troops is not being taken lightly.
“F**k the FBI and the army troops/fighting for what?/Be your own man/I be flying through the clouds with green like I’m Peter Pan” Soulja Boy raps on the track.
The line has created a ton of bad publicity for the rapper, and a former military veteran has filed an online petition to have Soulja Boy’s music banned from all U.S. military bases. “Many Americans, civilians and military personnel, have requested that you please discontinue any and all of Soulja Boy’s memorabilia,” reads the petition, which already has over 2,000 signatures.
“In doing so, you would not only earn the respect of the American audience but you would also create a peace among all Americans today,” the petition states. “Military personnel have become greatly offended with the previously mentioned song and removing said artist would ease a lot of the tension and violence that has been created.”
To make matters worse, a former sergeant and five year combat veteran who raps under the alias ‘Sgt. Dunson’ has decided to fire back at Soulja Boy with his new song entitled ‘Change Your Name’. Sgt. Dunson stated that Soulja Boy’s comments were the most ” “ignorant thing I’ve heard in so long.”
Soulja Boy definitely picked the wrong time to take shots at military personnel seeing that the ten year anniversary of 9-11 is just a few days away.
