After announcing that he had won a contract to open a new restaurant in Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Ludacris has decided to shut down his first eatery, Straits Atlanta. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Asian fusion restaurant held its last event on New Year’s Eve and Luda has said that he has plans for the building in the future.
Luda announced last week that he had won a contract to open a restaurant in Atlanta’s International Airport via twitter which he plans to name after his 2003 album ‘Chicken-n-Beer.’ The rapper’s newest eatery will serve comfort food and craft beers made from locally grown ingredietns.
Ludacris told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that he learned from his first foray into the restaurant industry, but added that he was eager to focus on the new project. “As I continue to learn and evolve as a businessman, I am extremely excited to put my restaurateur footprint into a new venture inside the busiest international airport in the United States, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Straits was a great segue into the industry and with Chicken N Beer I can create my own concept. I look forward to expanding my creativity and driving to a much higher plane,” Ludacris said.
Ludacris opened Straits nearly four years ago after partnering up with chef Chris Yeo to offer a variety of Thai, Indian, Chinese and South Asian dishes which drew in a number of celebrities. T.I. and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, Brandy, Common, NFL player Chad Ochocinco and the cast of ‘Fast Five’ have all eaten at Luda’s restaurant in the past, while Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee headlined a benefit at the eatery for Luda’s charitable foundation.
