Lil Wayne Talks About the Hazards of Skateboarding x Recent Injury

Lil Wayne spoke about the hazards of one of his favorite hobbies in a clip from DJ Scoob Doo’s upcoming ‘The Nino Brown Story’ DVD. The DVD is expected to including interactions between Lil Wayne and Drake, Weezy’s introduction to Justin Bieber and a tour of the rapper’s mansion.
In the clip from the DVD, Wayne explains that he injured himself while practicing, presumably, on the roof of his Miami mansion where the rapper has his own ramp. “Unfortunately I was skating and I tried to do an ollie down one of my banks and I tailed out at the end of it,” Wayne said. In the third installment of the rapper’s ‘Weezy’s Sports Corner,’ which released on Sunday, Wayne explained the severity of his injury while he sat in front of the camera with his arm in a sling. “I kinda didn’t separate it — hopefully I didn’t separate my shoulder, but if it was separated I wouldn’t be able to move it. I probably strained a muscle. I don’t know the name of the muscle, my therapist told me the name of it — I’m not sure. We were thinking I probably sprained the muscle, which is like a slight tear,” explained Wayne.
It doesn’t look like Wayne took very long to recover as the rapper recently hung out with Justin Bieber at a skate ramp and the ‘Baby’ singer posted a photo of Weezy on twitter, although it’s hard to tell if Wayne is still wearing the sling or not.
According to Lil Wayne, the pain associated with his recent shoulder injury isn’t as bad as not being able to enjoy his favorite hobby. The rapper recalled an injury he suffered in August 2011 during the St. Louis stop of his I Am Still Music Tour which required nine stiches, but at least his previous wound didn’t prevent him from getting back on his board immediately. “I ain’t worried about the pain, it hurts like hell but the worst thing is that I couldn’t really skate. I always get injured but I never get an injury where I can’t get back on the board. Remember we had the nine stitches? That didn’t mean we couldn’t skate the next day, so we skated the next day,” says Wayne in DJ Scoop Doo’s video.
