Kurupt talked about the role Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre will play in the upcoming Dogg Pound album, which is currently titled ‘Alumni,’ although he added that the date of the album’s release will have to remain uncertain until he finishes up his current tour. Kurupt and Daz first indicated that a new Dogg Pound album was in the works back in December 2011 when they revealed that Dr. Dre and Snoop would both drop in on the project.
Kurupt has a lot on his plate before he can manage to make time to hit the studio as he’s currently on tour and working on a studio album, and explained that the Dogg Pound project doesn’t have a fixed schedule at the moment. “We don’t got no time frame,” Kurupt told Cam Capone.
According to the rapper, Dr. Dre and Snoop will take on different roles to help bring the albu together, and it sounds like the Dogg Father will work closely with Daz and Kurupt, while the Good Doctor will take a step back. “Dr. Dre’s gonna oversee things to make sure it sounds good and is tight. Snoop’s gonna basically put it together with me and Daz,” said Kurupt.
The rapper also praised Dr. Dre’s well-known work ethic, and said that having the Good Doctor onboard for the project would assure the quality of ‘Alumni’ “You know it’s gonna be right. It’s exciting all the time. He keeps you inspired and keeps you focused,” Kurupt said.
Dr. Dre hasn’t nabbed a production credit on a Dogg Pound album since he was signed to Death Row Records with Daz Dilinger and Kurupt.
